We have compiled answers to commonly asked questions surrounding the Beyond the Garden Gates Tour.

Children

Children under 12 are discouraged from attending the tour. If you do choose to bring your child, then please ensure that they stay on the designated path and do not pick flowers. Strollers are prohibited in the gardens.

There is no reduced ticket price for children. Babes in arms are free.

Dates & Times

The tour is held from 1:00 – 5:00 pm on the Saturday and Sunday prior to Memorial Day weekend.

Handicap Accessibility

While the Garden Tour committee makes every effort to make the tour accessible to all visitors, the fact that private homes are featured on the tour make it difficult to guarantee accessibility. If you are unsure of whether the tour will accommodate you, please contact The Office of Special Events at 301-600-2841 for assistance.

Participating

Selection process for the annual Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour is ongoing.  Garden selection is conducted by the participating Garden Club for the current year.  Gardens are selected based on variety, geographical flow with other featured gardens and general aesthetics.

Rain Policy

The Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour is a rain or shine event. The tour may stop during a storm, but will resume once a storm passes. Please use common sense when seeking shelter from the storm – don’t stand under trees. Weather updates will be posted on our main Beyond the Garden Gates Tour page, via local media outlets and our social media accounts.

Starting Point

The tour is completely self-guided. A tour map will be provided with your ticket.  In advance of the tour feel free to view our google map located on our Gardens page.

Tickets

Cost

Tickets are good for both Saturday and Sunday of the tour.  Each garden can only be visited once over the course of the tour weekend.  Click here for complete ticket sales information.

There are no discounts for children or seniors, contact 301-600-2841 for information on pricing for groups of 30 or more.

On Sale Date

Tickets are typically available for sale in retail locations and online the first Saturday in April. If you would like to be notified when tickets are available for sale in the future email [email protected].

Event Day Sales

Tickets, if still available, can be purchased at the Garden Tour Hospitality Center on the days of the tour. Please note, tickets ARE NOT available for sale in the gardens.

Tour Disclaimer & Waiver

By using a ticket or tickets to the Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour (hereinafter referred to as the Garden Tour) and taking part in the event, I acknowledge that I may encounter the normal risks of injury or harm associated with outdoor events, nature, and social activities in general.

In consideration for my participation in this event, I  release and forever discharge The City of Frederick, Celebrate Frederick , Inc., DBA, The Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour Committee and Homeowners, and agree not to sue them or any of their affiliates, employees, representatives, or successors, and Celebrate Frederick’s officers, board, contractors, and employees, jointly and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in the Garden Tour. I understand and agree that this event release and waiver of liability shall be binding upon my heirs, assigns and any personal entity acting upon my behalf, and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Maryland.
