Tasker’s Chance Garden Club

Federated in 1949, Tasker’s Chance Garden Club‘s mission is, “To stimulate among members a love of gardening, to encourage the protection of native plants and birds, and to participate in correlated civic and educational projects.” Their membership totals 42 people. Current projects include:

  • Working with the City of Frederick and the Friends of Baker Park to maintain the plantings around the Skaters’ Shelter.
  • Garden Therapy programs at Taney Avenue Senior Center.
  • Donating to support Frederick City’s hanging baskets, and several of their members are active on the committee.
  • Creating and selling decorated and undecorated boxwood trees to raise money for civic projects each December.
  • Partnering with the Garden Club of Frederick to complete a fall clean up and decorations for the seasons at the grounds of the Faith House on North Market Street. They also decorate for the Christmas holiday and plant a vegetable garden and annuals in the spring.
  • The Club traditionally participates in Celebrate Frederick’s Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour.
