Tasker’s Chance Garden Club
Federated in 1949, Tasker’s Chance Garden Club‘s mission is, “To stimulate among members a love of gardening, to encourage the protection of native plants and birds, and to participate in correlated civic and educational projects.” Their membership totals 42 people. Current projects include:
- Working with the City of Frederick and the Friends of Baker Park to maintain the plantings around the Skaters’ Shelter.
- Garden Therapy programs at Taney Avenue Senior Center.
- Donating to support Frederick City’s hanging baskets, and several of their members are active on the committee.
- Creating and selling decorated and undecorated boxwood trees to raise money for civic projects each December.
- Partnering with the Garden Club of Frederick to complete a fall clean up and decorations for the seasons at the grounds of the Faith House on North Market Street. They also decorate for the Christmas holiday and plant a vegetable garden and annuals in the spring.
- The Club traditionally participates in Celebrate Frederick’s Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour.
